Farming project enables Ivana from Albania to have a sustainable income

Ivana from Albania tried to acquire enough income to provide for her family but she made too little with her tailoring job. She decided to rent some land and grow crops. It was a difficult task because she didn’t know how to take care of her garden effectively.

When she joined our project, Ivana received training and a micro credit. She learned to create a sustainable income. Because she used to be a tailor, and not a farmer, Ivana had to learn a lot. Despite this setback, she became one of the most active participants in the programme. She joined training sessions about business development and agriculture that enabled her to buy livestock and plant several kinds of crops. After the training she visited others to share her knowledge, while also learning from their insights. Ivana shares: ‘We are very thankful for all the training and support and we can now take good care of ourselves’.

Our enterprising people and community projects aim to empower and enable people to take care of themselves and others. People like Ivana receive training that help them provide for their families. Many households are able to increase their income and climb out of poverty and thousands of families have learned to grow their own food so that they can take care of themselves.
